Introduction


Indian Radio industry is one of thw most popular industries. There are various radio channels, we tune into daily and listen to our favourite programmes. Radio Jockey popularly known as "RJ". The job profile of RJ includes hosting radio channels, music programming, scripting, radio advertisements and lending voice to audio magazines and documentaries.


This radio industry is not very old and has gained popularity in a very short span. Radio stations are set across the country. There are various celebrity Radio Jockeys who are already very popular...!!!!



Education/Eligibiity


Talent is main for Radio Jockeying. In this RJ field there is no formal education qualification is required according to the industry, but graduation is mandatory. The most essential factor for a Radio Jockey is a good voice. They should be able to control the pitches of their voice and should learn to use them to the best affect. Staying updated is very important  for a Radio Jockey. To become a successful Radio Jockey they  should have good sense of humour, individuality, creativity of mind and an intensive knowledge of music. Successful RJ's have the ability to twist and turn their speech according to the situation.


Radio Jockeys should have the qualities like mimicry, local dialects and comedy or humour items will help them to carry on their shows.



Salary


The salary of a fresher is approx Rs 8000 to Rs 20,000. After few years of experience salary can be raised up to Rs 50,000 - Rs 90,000. Radio Jockey salary  increases with the experience and if are lucky enough to be famous, then there is no limit.  As a result they may also be paid per show(2500 - 3000).


At times many channels organize sponsored programs in which other companies pay the hosts on per show or hourly basis. RJ's also get chance to work for Indian Diasporas on foreign radio as broadcasting. They may provide extravagant pay package to professionals. One can easily earn upto 3000 per hour. More the experience, More the earning!
