Colorfull Orchid - The Aerides Ringens

Introduction Rigid Aeridesas is a miniature to small sized, hot growing orchid growing on trees. It is a short stem carrying rigidly leathery narrow leaves. These mainly found in the western ghats, Sri Lanka and the Andaman Islands. The plant blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, stout erect to ascending. These are rarely branched, dull purple, furrowed inflorescence and are up to 20 cm long. The inflorescence is densely many flowered, carrying fragrant flowers, pale purple flowers. Aerides Ringens Scientific Classifications  Common Name : Rigid Aerides. Botanical Name : Aerides Ringens. Family : Orchidaceae(Orchid Family). Marathi Name : Ringan irid amri. Synonyms : Saccolabium ringens, Gastrochilus ringens, Aerides linearis. Altitude : Sea level to 2300 m. Distribution : W.Ghats, Sri Lanka and Coastal Karnataka. Heat Tolerance : Blooms at sea level.
